Reishi mushrooms offer a natural energy boost without straining your adrenals, helping reduce anxiety while increasing mental clarity and focus.

1. Add the Mushrooms

Add chopped mushrooms to a pot of boiling water and gently simmer until your desired intensity. For maximum intensity, simmer for an hour or longer as this helps break down chitin of mushrooms to release water-soluble properties into boiling water and increase infusion experience. Furthermore, the longer you simmer your tea the deeper its effects will become.

For those who do not wish to spend as much time making their tea, pre-made mushroom tea blends may provide the solution. These mixes often combine several mushrooms in order to achieve an ideal combination of effects; such as mixing Reishi and Cordyceps for an uplifted effect that also offers endurance and mental clarity, or mixing Lion’s Mane with Chaga for mood enhancing yet grounding effects.

No matter the method for creating your tea, keep in mind that the effects of magic mushrooms typically take 20-40 minutes to kick in and can last 6+ hours, depending on dosage and your individual physiology.

As part of creating a delicious and effective mushroom tea, it’s essential that the right ingredients are used. When selecting ingredients for your mushroom tea recipe, always aim for organic or non-GMO items when possible; this will not only increase its quality, but it can help ensure you reap all of its medicinal mushroom-related advantages.

2. Boil Water

Mushroom tea can be prepared using any number of methods, from dried mushrooms and tinctures to powder, with many healthful benefits that come from regularly drinking this medicinal beverage. If you’re making tea at home, a pot or kettle will do just fine to heat water before adding chopped or ground up mushrooms of choice – such as Reishi Mushroom which features a woody taste for immune-boosting tea; cordyceps which provide natural energy boost; or Lion’s Mane which has been proven to support brain health are some examples.

Decocting mushrooms is often the best way to craft an unforgettable cup of mushroom tea. This involves simmering them in hot water until their flavors and nutrients seep into the water, giving you complete control over its quality and consistency. Many find this method highly rewarding as you can customize each batch perfectly!

An important consideration in using this method is choosing a pot made of non-aluminum as brewing requires long periods of heating, which aluminum does not conduct effectively. Furthermore, this will protect the beverage against being exposed to any potentially hazardous metals during its preparation.

Once your water is boiling, add mushrooms and let it simmer for at least half an hour before adding any other ingredients such as rose hips, crab apples, or sage leaves. When your tea is ready to drink it can be strained into a cup.

3. Steep

4. Strain

As part of the tea-brewing process, mushroom’s earthy flavors and variety of health benefits seep into boiling water during its infusion process. Depending on which mushrooms (or blend of mushrooms) are chosen for use, tea may subtly energize you (cordyceps for instance), or help to calm and focus (lion’s mane for instance).

An advantage of making your own mushroom tea is its customizable ingredients and benefits; simply choose what suits your mood, desired outcome or season. For instance, some people enjoy creating a relaxing reishi and ashwagandha blend before bedtime to help relax before sleep while others might prefer using chaga and turkey tail for increased immunity and energy boosts – there are endless combinations that can meet personal needs!

Mushroom extracts can also be used to make tinctures. Simply simmer mushrooms in water until finished and strain out their water-soluble constituents into a bottle for storage in a dark and cool location; this will produce an easily consumable shelf-stable tincture that can be taken in smaller doses than tea.

If you want to take your tincture as a supplement, take one teaspoon every day. Or you could incorporate it into teas and other recipes as its versatility makes it ideal. In fact, many of our favourite mushroom teas use both alcohol and water extracts! Double extractions can be an ideal option for those unable to consume alcohol yet still desire the health benefits of mushroom tincture. To create one, bring half gallon of water gently simmering in a stockpot before adding mushrooms from an alcohol extract and simmering for two hours, until approximately 8 ounces have reduced. Strain and save infused water before mixing both extracts in a dark, cool location for storage.
