Is Coffee Bean Halal in Singapore?
Kopi Luwak Coffee has long been the source of heated debate within Muslim communities, as many question whether or not it is permissible. Produced from beans excreted by Asian Palm Civets known as Musangs, scholars have determined it to be permissible, since coffee seeds remain in their original forms throughout digestion while being protected from external environmental factors – similar to eggs from chickens being considered halal). Furthermore, excreted beans from Kopi Luwak production can still be planted to grow new plants despite having gone through an animal’s digestive tract.
Established in Singapore in 1996, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was the first premium coffee and tea retailer to implement a fully halal-certified menu across all their outlets. Their commitment to offering an expansive variety of halal drinks and food makes them stand out among international coffee shops in Singapore, creating a distinctive position within local food & beverage offerings.
