How to Make the Best Magic Mushroom Tea
Magic mushroom tea can provide an immersive and transformative experience that allows for deep exploration of consciousness. Common effects may include visual and auditory hallucinations, feelings of connection to nature and an altered state of consciousness lasting up to six hours. Recently conducted studies also suggest psilocybin, the active ingredient found in magic mushrooms, may offer therapeutic benefits – in fact it may help treat depression while alleviating end-of-life anxiety for cancer patients (Kargbo 2020).
There are various methods of consuming magic mushrooms. While some prefer eating whole fungi, others enjoy drinking liquid forms like tea. Brewing mushrooms into tea has proven more efficient for many individuals since this breaks down its indigestible chitin walls more quickly and allows more people to experience the psychedelic effects of magic mushrooms.
Mushroom tea may also provide a more pleasant experience for those sensitive to the digestive side effects associated with eating mushrooms in their whole form, like nausea. By making it into a tea form instead, however, these issues often go away completely.
For an indulgent cup of mushroom tea, start by grinding up magic mushrooms into a fine powder. This allows the body to better absorb their psilocybin content; use either a coffee grinder or food processor for this step; take care not to overgrind as excessive friction could cause them to release their contents prematurely and create an unpleasant or even nauseating experience.
Once your mushrooms have been ground into powder form, it’s time to brew! First, heat water up until it reaches 70oC; be careful not to bring it close to boiling as this will destroy psilocybin in mushrooms; instead a water temperature between 70oC and 80oC should create an ideal environment for creating tasty and effective mushroom tea.
Once your water has been heated, pour it over your mushrooms and steep for 20 minutes – the longer you let the tea steep, the stronger its taste will become. After steeping has finished, strain into another container to separate out mushrooms from liquid before adding any flavor enhancers such as honey, squeeze of lemon or fresh ginger slices for extra zestiness or even pinches of nutmeg or pepper for additional spice!
