How to Make Healthy Dalgona Coffee
Are You Posting Whipped Coffee on Social Media? But Have You Tried It Yet? Whipped coffee has been around for some time – celebrities and other influencers popularized it this year; but have you tried it yet? Whipped coffee has long been enjoyed around the world with different variations appearing all across nations; one version that recently went viral was known as Dalgona Coffee; its name being inspired by Korean candy with similar texture to Whipped Coffee’s creamy consistency – “dalgona coffee”.
Traditional whipped coffee recipes involve instant coffee, sugar and hot water being combined to form the mixture, then served over ice with milk as desired. But this type of recipe contains carbohydrates which may not be appropriate for those following a low-carb or keto diet; we offer an easy alternative which won’t sacrifice taste!
This Herbal Dalgona Coffee recipe is an all-vegan, caffeine-free coffee alternative made with liver-supportive herbs and fluffy whipped herbal coffee that’s sweetened with coconut sugar, maple syrup, stevia or honey – my personal preference being honey due to its delicious flavor profile and nutritional benefits. While perfect over homemade nut milks like homemade chocolate almond or hazelnut milks; you could also serve it over water, horchata or other dairy-free beverages!
To create healthier whipped coffee, combine your herbal blend and sweetener of choice in a large mixing bowl. Next, use either a frother, handheld mixer, or whisk by hand until it reaches stiff, foamy peaks (this typically takes 2 – 4 minutes when using an electric stand or hand mixer and longer for hand whipped). Pour over ice in a glass and fill two thirds full with plant-based milk before garnishing it with cinnamon for an enjoyable beverage experience!
If you want to add different flavors, experiment with adding ingredients such as cocoa powder, matcha, chai tea mix or crushed Oreos. Just be aware that doing so will change the consistency; additional xylitol or liquid may need to be added accordingly. Alternatively, experiment with various milk types like oat, almond or cashew until you find your preferred flavour!
