What is Reishi Coffee?
Reishi mushrooms were once only reserved for royalty in Traditional Chinese medicine; today they’re widely used to ease fatigue, promote restful sleep and calm frayed nerves. Reishi acts as an adaptogen, helping balance external and internal stressors.
Reishi has long been revered for its immunomodulatory benefits, including anti-inflammatory and antitumor actions. Its primary components are polysaccharides and beta-glucans; according to Paul Stamets’ estimates, its fruiting body extract contains four times as many immune-modulating beta-glucans than supplements derived from mycelial growth on grains.
Also included in mushroom coffee blends is chaga, cordyceps and lion’s mane; each mushroom serves as an adaptogen and provides anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune boosting benefits. Chaga in particular may have antimicrobial and anti-tumor effects.
Reishi coffee recipes typically consist of mixing high quality, roast-free single origin coffee from Brazil with mushroom powders, raw cacao powder, maca root powder, C8 MCT Oil from coconuts and C8 MCT Powder for an enjoyable morning drink. This combination can produce delicious and nutritive results!
Reishi coffee can be easily created at home with just a blender and cup of cold, ground or instant coffee – preferable arabica since its lower acidity than Robusta allows the ingredients to combine until desired texture has been reached. Reishi coffee offers milder flavors than its counterpart and can even be garnished with coconut or cashew nut shreds for added texture!
