Benefits

Reishi tea benefits have long been prized in Eastern Herbalism as Ganoderma lucidum or the “Mushroom of Immortality.” Reishi can help combat cancerous tumors while modulating immunity and improving natural killer cell activation; acting as an antioxidant; fighting infections; relieving fatigue, improving sleep patterns and providing antitumor agents.

Studies on both humans and animals have demonstrated the power of Reishi to boost immunity, reduce inflammation and anxiety levels, promote more restful sleep, as well as help regulate blood sugar levels – an especially vital benefit for those living with diabetes.

Mushrooms tend to have an unpleasant “woody” flavor that’s unappetizing, which is why it is best to mask them using other herbs and ingredients in our reishi tea blends. Reishi powder may also be taken directly or mixed into other beverages or foods for optimal consumption.

Reishi mushrooms are commonly sold as tea or dietary supplements, with traditional Chinese medicine practitioners having relied upon them for centuries. Reishi is believed to help boost immunity, reduce stress and fatigue levels, promote restful sleep patterns, protect cells from damage and boost antioxidant levels in your system. Reishi should only come from reliable sources as bioaccumulators mushrooms like Reishi harvested from wild sources or foreign producers may contain harmful toxins and pesticides which cannot be removed through processing – look for organic, Kosher and non-GMO certified products as these will ensure safe growth conditions have taken place when grown safely.

Reishi mushroom tea can make an enjoyable addition to any wellness routine, with its sweet yet earthy flavors complementing other ingredients in its blend. Reishi tea often features mushrooms combined with herbs – for instance reishi tea that promotes natural sleep uses chamomile alongside Tulsi or holy basil, lemon balm and butterfly pea flower for maximum relaxation benefits. Reishi is often taken before meditation sessions or taken before bed as an evening tonic to relax before sleep.

Reishi contains ganoderic acid which has been shown to reduce tumor growth and cancer risk, treat hepatitis, high cholesterol and nervous disorders; stimulate white blood cell formation that targets abnormal cells; as well as stimulate specific white blood cell activation that attack abnormal cells – making this therapy particularly effective at improving outcomes in serious illnesses like inflammatory bowel disease, cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.

Reishi is generally safe for most adults to consume in moderation, though it is always advisable to consult your physician before beginning to take supplements such as reishi or any other substance. Mushrooms may increase bleeding if taken with certain drugs like warfarin and blood thinners so it should not be combined together with them. Also, since reishi has the potential to decrease blood sugar levels significantly it’s wise to discuss with your healthcare provider if you suffer from diabetes or are taking medication to treat that condition.

Storage

Reishi mushroom has long been revered for its immune-enhancing, stress-reducing and longevity benefits. Often called the “mushroom of immortality” in Eastern cultures, Reishi’s constituent components balance our two primary stress hormones – cortisol and adrenaline – leading to improved sleep, reduced anxiety and greater well-being.

Reishi can be purchased in supplement and tea bag form, but for optimal results it should be prepared as a medicinal herbal tea. This requires simmering dried or fresh mushrooms in hot water for some period of time – more involved than making regular cups of tea with powdered reishi powder. It is suggested to consume this medicinal tea daily over at least seven days to ensure you reap all its beneficial effects.

Reishi tea preparation generally entails adding whole or sliced dried mushrooms to a pot of boiling water and simmering them together, although other methods exist. Direct addition may yield stronger tea but requires straining afterwards – in either instance an infuser or tea bag should be used so as to contain all of the mushrooms to prevent them from falling to the bottom of your kettle.

When selecting reishi for medicinal tea use, opt for organically grown products made with all fruiting bodies of the mushroom – this ensures all beneficial beta glucans and triterpenes have been extracted from it. Furthermore, packaging should clearly indicate how many beta glucans and triterpenes each serving contains.

Opting for pre-sliced dried reishi can make preparation much faster and simpler; these products can be found at some natural food stores and online. Simply combine with hot water in an infuser, simmer for two hours and strain to remove any woody pieces before refrigerating for up to one week in your refrigerator.
