Organic Coffee – Is it Better to Drink Organic Coffee?
Organic coffee can be more beneficial for your health as it contains fewer harmful chemicals than conventional varieties, which could seep into bodies of water, pollute the environment, and destroy native plants and animals. Organic coffee also benefits the planet because its production does not use harsh chemicals that contribute to climate change by decreasing emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Not unlike conventional coffee, which uses chemical pesticides to protect itself, organic coffee uses natural fertilizers and methods of pest and weed control for its beans to absorb more nutrients and create a fuller and richer flavor profile. Many coffee drinkers find organic varieties more vibrant, fruity and smooth in taste than their counterparts.
Organic coffee’s higher cost can be explained by increased production costs associated with using natural fertilizers and extra labor to ensure beans remain free from contamination. Furthermore, its certification process can be both lengthy and expensive for farmers – although not all companies that sell organic coffee support fair-trade practices; large corporations sometimes charge premium prices while paying farmers less than production cost.
Organic coffee offers many environmental and ecological advantages over its synthetic-chemical-laden counterpart. Not only is it grown organically without chemicals being applied directly, it is often shade-grown to conserve local ecosystems by supporting forest preservation efforts, while contributing to healthier soil through sequestering significant carbon. Many consumers purchase and drink organic coffee because they wish to contribute towards creating a more sustainable future.
Unfortunately, organic coffee cannot guarantee 100% mold-free coffee consumption. Mold can produce mycotoxins that can be toxic for humans and animals alike; mycotoxin levels in coffee may rise due to high humidity, improper storage and transportation practices, environmental pollution or cross-contamination during production and processing processes.
As each person’s priorities and perspectives vary, whether organic coffee is truly better for your health depends on them as an individual. Both regular and organic coffee can provide antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavonoids; both types also taste deliciously stimulating! In terms of taste preferences, organic is generally preferred because it lacks pesticides and synthetic chemicals found in regular varieties; however, depending on roasting method, bean type, and brewing method variations; therefore it is wise to sample different brands until finding something you truly enjoy drinking.
