Lingzhi Ganoderma tea, more commonly referred to as Reishi Mushroom, is a natural extract which supports heart, liver and lung health. Animal studies have demonstrated antihypertensive, hypoglycaemic, and lipid-lowering benefits for this natural remedy.

As soon as tea was introduced into the mix, its oxidation peak current dropped significantly, suggesting it consumed superoxide radicals and this finding correlated well with polysaccharide content.

Benefits

Ganoderma mushrooms have long been revered as “mushrooms of spiritual potency.” Used extensively in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years to support immune system health, fight cancer, reduce blood pressure and promote overall wellbeing, they contain polysaccharides such as glucosamine, mannitol, ergosterol and coumarin as well as organic acids, fatty acids, water-soluble proteins and various bioactive compounds that may possess antitumor, antiviral, antibacterial, antioxidant antimicrobial, antioxidant antimicrobial properties as well as immunomodulating properties. Other mushrooms belonging to this genus such as Reishi lucidum or maitake (Grifola frondosa), are used medicinally as well.

Reishi Ganoderma, the most prevalent variety, has been extensively researched. Studies have demonstrated its ability to reduce blood glucose levels and insulin sensitivity for diabetic patients while simultaneously protecting liver tissue damage, inhibiting tumor growth and increasing mouse lifespan. Other types of Ganoderma such as Lion’s Mane Ganoderma Tsugae), False Unicorn Mushroom Ganoderma Esculentum), True Tinder Polypore Fomitopsis officinalis), Artist Conk Ganoderma Applanatum are proven as effective treatments against various disorders.

Ganoderma contains germanium, which has been scientifically demonstrated to exhibit antimutagenic and antitumor effects. Furthermore, Ganoderma contains numerous beneficial substances including the steroid ganodosterone as well as various enzymes useful in maintaining healthy cells and tissues – superoxide dismutase, lysozyme, proteinases. Furthermore, Ganoderma provides ample amounts of vitamins C & E as well as potassium calcium magnesium zinc riboflavin.

Lingzhi Ganoderma, which is the most prevalent variety, can be found in various herbal supplements and nutraceutical commercial products. It may also be combined with other herbs and ingredients to maximize its therapeutic effects. One study demonstrated how taking supplements containing Lingzhi Ganoderma improved cardiovascular function in mice by decreasing oxidative stress while increasing levels of glutathione peroxidase and CAT antioxidant enzymes; another research project concluded that Ganoderma Spore Oil Extract can protect against transverse Aortic constriction caused heart failure due to reduced expression of circular RNA Foxo3, a key player in developing heart failure.

Ingredients

Ganoderma mushroom has long been recognized in traditional and holistic medicine as an effective natural treatment for conditions ranging from cancer, high blood pressure, hepatitis, nervous disorders and liver disease. Ganoderic acid, its active component, has proven itself effective at both inhibiting cell growth and killing cancer cells – another advantage is that there are no side-effects when taken medicinally – hence its popularity among many as a tonic and slimming drink.

Reischi mushrooms are revered medicinal mushrooms renowned for stimulating immune systems, preventing tumor growth, lowering blood pressure, and overall improving overall health. In China and Japan they are often called “mushrooms of spiritual potency”, but this recipe uses green tea with Reishi to create a mild-tasting yet highly beneficial beverage.

This tea blend includes rooibos leaves (Aspalathus Linearis), reishi mushroom extract (Ganoderma Lucidum/Lingzhi), cordyceps mushroom extract (Cordyceps Militaris), lemongrass leaves (Cymbopogon Citratus), and Eleutherococcus Senticosus root powder for optimal nutritional benefits, and natural orange flavoring. Also contains natural orange flavor.

Precautions

Ganoderma lucidum (Lingzhi or Reishi in Japanese) is an herb widely recognized for its therapeutic and medicinal qualities, particularly within Chinese traditional medicine. This mushroom has long been utilized as an effective treatment against conditions including bronchitis, allergies and hepatitis; moreover it’s widely recognized for fighting cancer naturally while having anti-aging benefits as well. Recent research indicates it could potentially help protect liver from damage while fighting inflammation disorders like rheumatoid arthritis – in addition it boasting powerful antioxidant properties too.

Ganoderma is an invigorating natural ingredient, prized by health enthusiasts across the board. Backed by scientific studies, its potential benefits have attracted attention of many health enthusiasts – making it an indispensable component of many natural supplements and skincare products. Furthermore, its inclusion is becoming more frequent in functional coffees like Bona Vita’s 8-in-1 Coffee as well as instant beverages using organic ingredients and sweeteners such as Stevia to sweeten drinks with this amazing natural sweetener.

Since ancient Chinese medicine practitioners lauded Ganoderma lucidum as an extraordinary tonic to improve vital energy (Qi) flow, and consider it an integral component of imperial herbal formulas, modern science has identified specific bioactive compounds responsible for Ganoderma’s therapeutic properties; such as polysaccharides, triterpenoids, proteins, lectins, alkaloids steroids and lactones that play key roles.

Research studies conducted to date have uncovered one of the most striking discoveries regarding Ganoderma: its direct impact on cellular communication within the human body, positively influencing imbalances and aiding homeostasis. This effect can be attributed to its rich content of luciferic acid as well as how it inhibits certain cytokines that contribute to inflammation such as asthma.

Ganoderma’s antiviral properties have also been established through research conducted in 2018 by mycologist Paul Stamets. A study conducted on infected bee colonies using extracts of certain Ganoderma species proved this, with extracts showing 79 fold reduction of Deformed Wing Virus infection compared to control colonies, as well as 45,000 fold decrease of Lake Sinai Virus infections compared with control colonies. These results support evidence suggesting luciferic acids have strong antiviral activity while combinations combining Luciferic Acid with beta-glucans may increase immune system responses against viruses by stimulating production of phagocytic cells to fight infection more efficiently.

Side Effects

Ganoderma, also known as reishi or lingzhi, is one of the best-known medicinal mushrooms. It can help improve immune health while treating conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, allergies, hepatitis and cancer. Ganoderma contains polysaccharides, triterpenes and antioxidants which provide numerous health benefits, while many people report using this mushroom to increase energy and relieve stress or sleep disorders; studies have also indicated it reduces inflammation while potentially preventing tumors.

Polysaccharides, which consist of sugar molecules arranged in complex chains, possess multiple biological benefits. Polysaccharides form an important part of G. lucidum cell walls and play an integral part in its antitumor activity; in vitro studies have demonstrated this antitumor activity via long glycosidic bonds with high molecular weight polysaccharides, such as those present in G-1-3 and B-1-6 D-glucan polysaccharides as well as heteropolysaccharides like Ganoderan A-B-C and glycoproteins also display antitumor activity in vitro.

Triterpenes are organic compounds composed of isoprene units with a C30 skeleton. They possess various functional groups and can be found in plants, herbs and spices; triterpenoids have been reported to possess antitumor, antioxidant and antihypertensive properties; Ganoderma lucidum contains several triterpenes known as “ganoderic acids.”

G. lucidum extract has been demonstrated to exert anti-hyperglycaemic and lipid-reducing activities in animal models, including mice. In both normal and glucose-loaded mice, serum glucose levels decreased while liver activities such as glucose-6-phosphatase, hexokinase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase activities decreased (PePCK).

Studies conducted using a mouse model of carotid artery ligation showed that oral administration of G. lucidum ethanol extracts prevented neointimal thickening two weeks post-ligation, due to their ability to reduce oxidative damage and boost activity of glutathione peroxidase, cytochrome c-oxidase, and superoxidase dismutases (Rajasekaran and Kalaimagal 2012). Furthermore, water extract of G. lucidum helped lower HbA1c and HOMA-IR in diabetic patients through down-regulation of PEPCK expression (Seto et al 2009).
