Organic Coffee
Coffee offers many choices; when considering which is right for you, organic and non-organic should always be kept in mind. Organic coffee is grown without synthetic chemicals or additives which makes it gentler on digestive systems while being more beneficial for the environment and farmers who produce it.
Conventional coffee farms clear forests to plant their crops, depriving wildlife and native plants of their homes in the process. Chemicals also run off into nearby waterways and threaten marine life as well as all those who use that water source. Organic farming offers far better solutions for both the environment, local communities and all who consume its products.
The United States Department of Agriculture provides organic certification for agricultural products, such as coffee beans. Look for the USDA Organic seal on any label to confirm that its production meets stringent organic supply chain management and quality control standards from field to cup.
If you prefer organic coffee, it’s advisable to choose Fair Trade certified brands. Fair Trade certification helps ensure workers are paid fairly for their efforts and helps support sustainability by purchasing from a roaster who has signed on with Coffee.transparency or is certified B-corp.
At least three years are needed to bring coffee from seed to cup, making organic bean farming and processing essential. Not only will organic standards guarantee chemical-free soil conditions; GMOs also are prohibited during production of their beans.
Additionally, beans must be stored and roasted under carefully monitored conditions, especially the roasting stage – this process has a direct impact on its flavor, aroma and health benefits in a cup of coffee. In order to meet organic standards all steps must use 100% organic ingredients.
Organic coffee production not only benefits sustainable agriculture and biodiversity protection, but it also supports the well-being of those involved in its creation. Many coffee producers that sell products under the organic banner have joined Equal Exchange or similar Fair Trade programs to raise standards of living while making an impactful statement to society at large.
Organic Ganoderma Lucidum Spores
Ganoderma lucidum (Lingzhi) is one of the world’s rarest and most valuable antioxidant sources, taking seven to eight months for it to fully mature and produce pollen-bearing spores (seeds ready to pollinate). These hard spores must then be cracked open at just the right moment for extracting their precious spores – this requires finesse as each cracking time has an enormous influence on quality – only the finest spores make it into our Reishi organic coffee blend!
Organic Ganoderma Lucidum Spores are the cornerstone of its fruiting body and offer multiple health benefits, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and hypoglycemic. Reishi also contains various polysaccharides including glucose fructose mannose galactose as well as oxygenated triterpenoids such as lucidenic acid, ganoderic acids and 12-acetyl ganoderic acid F.
G. lucidum may be responsible for its ability to maintain stable levels of both blood sugar and cholesterol through its balancing effects on reishi polysaccharides, which help balance them both through inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase enzyme that breaks down cholesterol in liver as well as helping the body metabolize sugars as energy (glycolysis).
Studies have demonstrated that Reishi polysaccharides can improve insulin sensitivity. Furthermore, they have also been found to relieve coronavirus symptoms in those living with Hepatitis C, and help reduce or prevent oxidative stress associated with chronic illness.
Reishi’s antioxidant activity can be traced back to its polysaccharides and triterpenoids. As more bioactive compounds such as these bioactive molecules exist, so too will its antioxidant activity increase. Furthermore, research has demonstrated reishi extracts possess antihypertensive, lipid-lowering, antimicrobial, and can reduce cardiovascular disease risks by helping maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels – helping lower cardiovascular risks while protecting cells against free radical damage as well as slowing cell aging processes.
Organic Ganoderma Lucidum Fruiting Body Powder
Ganoderma lucidum (reishi mushrooms) are large, dark and bitter-tasting fungi with a glossy exterior and woody texture, known as “lingzhi” in Chinese medicine. Considered an herb with spiritual potency symbolizing success, well-being and divine power; believed to promote immune system function and longevity – Ganoderma lucidum can be consumed either as powder, extract capsules/tablets or tea.
Reishi mushroom powder and extract are packed with biologically active compounds, including polysaccharides and triterpenoids. Polysaccharides such as glucose, fructose, xylose and mannose can form polysaccharides with unique properties and benefits when linked together via glycosidic bonds; other substances include glycoproteins, alkaloids, sterols amino acids polypeptide nucleosides furan derivatives proteins also found within Reishi products.
Studies on Reishi have confirmed its antioxidant properties. Reishi extracts were shown to possess strong 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity while having minimal superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity; they also display antihypertensive, lipid-lowering and anti-acetylcholinesterase activities as well as triterpenes which inhibit tumor growth while simultaneously improving immune response.
Reishi products are available as dried spores, fruiting bodies, mycelia and powders; however, research has primarily centered around their benefits when taken as powders or extracts as these forms are easier to use than raw mushrooms themselves. Their pharmacological effects may be tied to concentration of polysaccharides and triterpenes; those containing high levels such as Ganolucidic Acid Eta or 12-Acetyl Ganoderic Acid F are thought to exert the most significant results.
Preclinical and animal research suggest that Reishi extracts could be effective treatments for many conditions, including high blood pressure, cancer, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders. They could even potentially aid fibromyalgia patients – an illness marked by painful tender spots and fatigue – while improving sleep, relieving stress anxiety and increasing energy. Further investigation should confirm these results as many reishi supplements sold on the market may contain harmful contaminants not tested rigorously prior to release on the market.
Organic Ganoderma Lucidum Triterpenes
Ganoderma lucidum (Lingzhi) is an ancient medicinal mushroom traditionally used to support healthy immune function. Studies have confirmed its wide-ranging effects, owing to polysaccharides and triterpenoids found in Lingzhi. Modern research has also proven its broad-spectrum efficacy by improving gut-liver-brain axis disorders as well as blocking oxidative damage through modulating multiple signaling pathways.
Ganoderma mushrooms are polypore fungi renowned for producing fruiting bodies laden with bioactive molecules such as polysaccharides, polypeptides and triterpenoids, all known to exert various beneficial properties when consumed orally by humans and animals alike. Studies conducted using cell cultures and animal models have demonstrated these bioactive substances to possess anti-hyperglycaemic and lipid-lowering activities as well as cognitive health promoting and immunomodulatory properties.
Ganoderma contains more than just polysaccharides and triterpenes; in fact, a distinct class of organic compounds known as Lanostans has also been identified within Ganoderma. Lanostans are formed from isoprene units with a C30 skeleton structure. They can be found in various forms like aldehydes, alcohols, esters lactones and ketones; some lanostans have even been recognized to possess anti-inflammatory activity.
Studies have demonstrated that polysaccharides from Ganoderma lucidum can enhance natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity and secretion of perforin and granzyme secretions; these effects help fight cancer cells while strengthening immunity [124].
Triterpenoids from Ganoderma lucidum have been demonstrated to exhibit potency against HIV-1 infection. Multiple studies have reported that ganoderic acids A and B possess significant inhibitory activity against proteases that facilitate viral replication; one such acid even demonstrated 40% inhibition against reverse transcriptase activity in HIV-1 reverse transcription as measured by reverse transcriptase inhibition tests.
Studies have demonstrated the power of Ganoderma to help prevent and treat cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. This effect is largely attributable to its high concentrations of polysaccharides and triterpenes which have been shown to boost cell signaling pathways, reduce oxidative stress levels, inhibit inflammation processes, provide antioxidant benefits, and inhibit tumor growth – further amplified by being grown without pesticides or fertilizers.
