Is Organic Coffee Low Acid?
Foods and drinks high in acidity can often aggravate acid reflux or other stomach conditions, and could potentially trigger irritation in individuals prone to acidity. While that used to mean giving up coffee altogether, companies have now created blends and beans which allow those susceptible to acidity to continue enjoying their favorite beverage without it irritating their tummies.
At our review, we discovered that coffee’s acidity depends on two elements: its type of bean and where it was grown. Arabica varieties from lower altitudes typically produce less acid. Furthermore, dark roast beans tend to have reduced acidity compared to light roasted ones.
Though we found many excellent low acid coffees, some were lacking flavor. Our advice would be to seek out the most flavorful low acid blend possible; typically one roasted darker than usual will provide better acidity regulation while simultaneously bringing out its flavors while creating a full-bodied taste experience.
