Is Mushroom Tea Stronger?
Reishi, chaga, lion’s mane and turkey tail mushrooms have long been utilized as medicinal aids, helping promote mental wellbeing, increase immunity and decrease stress levels. Brewing these mushrooms as tea provides faster onset as the hot water extracts their psilocybin compounds more quickly.
To create mushroom tea, simply combine dried pieces or powder with hot water. The effects will depend on which variety of mushroom is being used and can range from subtle visual enhancements to euphoria and spiritual transformation.
Reishi
Reishi, also known as the “Mushroom of Immortality,” is thought to help support heart health, balance hormones, promote immunity and strengthen liver. Long used for centuries in Eastern traditions and now studied scientifically as an anti-inflammatory supplement with antitumor properties and immunostimulatory properties, Reishi can be taken in tea form, capsule form or powder. Reishi also contains polysaccharides and triterpenes believed to possess anti-inflammatory, antitumor and immunostimulatory properties.
Reishi may help stimulate natural killer cells in the body that target and destroy cancerous and other abnormal cells, thus aiding cancer prevention and treatment. Reishi can help protect against prostate, breast and colorectal cancer as well as strengthen patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
Reishi can help reduce fatigue, improve sleep and promote heart health. It has been touted to reduce stress and anxiety levels while improving digestion and increasing energy levels – not to mention its lower blood pressure and liver benefits! Reishi contains powerful antioxidants which work against inflammation of artery walls which forces the heart to pump harder through the body resulting in increased blood pressure or cardiovascular issues.
Reishi tea, known for its immunomodulatory effects, may also possess sedative and hypnotic qualities that make it an excellent sleep aid. According to researchers, Reishi can encourage deeper, more restful slumber by helping the body enter a natural cycle of restful slumber. Reishi is thought to have other health benefits as well, such as strengthening immunity systems and encouraging cell repair.
Reishi is generally well tolerated when taken at appropriate dosages; however, a small percentage of individuals have reported liver damage from long-term use at higher dosages – usually related to long-term and high dose usage. Damage may range from mild hepatitis that resolves quickly upon discontinuation to severe liver damage requiring medical intervention. Therefore, pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as people taking any medications or with liver disorders should not use Reishi.
Chaga
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) mushrooms have gained increasing attention as a result of increased interest in functional mushrooms and preventative Eastern medicine. Commonly found on birch trees in cold climates, Chaga contains high concentrations of antioxidants which provide antiviral, anticancer, hypoglycemic, immune-enhancing benefits as well as decreasing inflammation and helping detoxify the body.
Chaga extract has been discovered to contain high concentrations of b-D-glucans, which have been proven to increase our ability to fight infections and stimulate white blood cell production – both beneficial ways of killing bacteria and viruses and helping prevent colds or flus.
Chaga mushroom is not only rich in antioxidants but it’s also packed with minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium – providing essential nutrition. Furthermore, its use has been found to boost energy and decrease fatigue; though there’s no concrete proof this effect comes directly from its consumption; instead it could be due to other factors like stress relief or sleep improvement.
A study compared the antioxidant activity of various chaga extracts with commercially available mushroom tinctures. Each sample was tested for its ORAC and DPPH radical-scavenging capabilities as well as total phenolic content; results demonstrated that the b-D-glucans found in chaga have stronger antioxidant activity than its counterparts; however, these extracts only proved effective up to three days post maceration.
Even though chaga has been used in traditional medicine for centuries, it still isn’t as widely known as Lion’s Mane or Reishi. Although chaga may take longer to gain mainstream appeal as a functional food and supplement, its potential health benefits include increasing immunity while protecting from oxidative stress. Chaga can be taken alone or combined with other functional mushrooms like Reishi or Lion’s Mane; their compounds may even synergistically enhance one another’s effects when taken together – however it’s always wise to consult your doctor before adding anything into your diet plan!
Lion’s Mane
Lion’s Mane is an adaptogen known for improving cognitive enhancement, focus and memory. Additionally, it promotes nerve growth while offering antidepressant benefits – an invaluable aid for maintaining sharp minds as we age and preventing neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
Lion’s mane mushrooms (Hericium erinaceus) possess a mild flavor and tender texture that are similar to shellfish, making it an excellent seafood replacement in soups and salads. You might see it used as a mock Crab Louie salad topping or used as part of surf and turf dishes as plant-based “steak”. Additionally, these versatile mushrooms make great bases for stews or stir fries!
There are various methods of taking lion’s mane mushrooms, with each form offering distinct results. For optimal results, select a dual extract powder dietary supplement; this form provides full access to active compounds including beta-glucans, hericenones and erinacines for long-term use at an economical price point.
Dual-extraction is the process of steeping herbs or mushrooms in both alcohol and water to extract both fat- and water-soluble compounds, thus retaining more of its beneficial polysaccharides in a mix that retains more of their original beneficial compounds – perfect for anyone in need of an immune boost!
Lion’s mane mushrooms, like other medicinal mushrooms, are adaptogenic herbs that help reduce stress and boost immunity. Studies have demonstrated their efficacy against depression and anxiety as well as relieving chronic fatigue syndrome symptoms and autoimmune disease symptoms. They even possess unique mechanisms which could protect neurons against oxidative stress and inflammation.
Lion’s mane pairs well with Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb known for providing stress reduction and mood support. Together these herbs can enhance each other’s effects with minimal side effects; research indicates they work to improve cognitive function, stimulate nerve growth and decrease inflammation.
Turkey Tail
Turkey tail (Coriolus versicolor) fungus has long been used in oriental medicine for its numerous therapeutic benefits; more recent biological studies have confirmed its efficiency. Turkey tail mushroom has many uses and benefits that range from strengthening immune systems, fighting certain viruses, improving metabolism and protecting liver health to strengthening memory retention and even helping stave off brain decline.
Studies show that mushrooms contain polysaccharides which stimulate your immune system by binding to receptors on immune cells and stimulating an appropriate broad immune response, helping your body protect itself against pathogens and threats such as viruses such as Hepatitis C, HIV and influenza. Furthermore, mushrooms also contain antiviral compounds which have proven useful in fighting some viruses including Hepatitis C, HIV and influenza.
One study has demonstrated that PSP, a polysaccharide compound found in turkey tail mushrooms, could help limit viral spread by inhibiting certain molecules essential for their function. While further investigation will need to be completed on its effectiveness in humans, this is promising news.
Turkey tail extract provides another significant benefit by improving metabolic functions such as improving blood sugar and cholesterol levels, as well as increasing physical performance – mice consuming turkey tail extract have shown improved endurance than their control group counterparts when taken orally.
Add to that, turkey tail mushrooms could also help treat cancerous conditions by encouraging the production of healthy new cells that replace damaged ones and can suppress tumor growth. Furthermore, studies have indicated that psilocin, one component found in turkey tail mushrooms, can improve survival rates and overall body weight among patients diagnosed with gastric cancer.
Though there are numerous turkey tail supplements on the market, the most efficient way to maximize this powerful fungus’ effects is by creating a tea with dried mushrooms and drinking it regularly. This method ensures all nutrient compounds will be fully broken down and readily absorbed by your digestive tract. Our MyPure 4X blend features 1:1 and 8:1 turkey tail extracts from certified organic fruiting bodies; hot water treatment of 1:1 portion ensures maximum bioavailability while 8:1 portion offers higher concentration of PSP and PSK polysaccharides.
