As is often the case, misconceptions surrounding how to add honey to coffee can be confusing and misleading. Social media influencers sometimes claim that pouring hot water over honey, heating it or pouring hot water onto honey releases toxic or poisonous compounds; according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics however this is simply untrue – even when using metal spoons or honey dipper heated from within can still release nothing harmful – honey provides plenty of B vitamins such as riboflavin, pantothenic acid folate and magnesium!
