Is Green Coffee Healthy?
Green coffee bean supplements claim to be a miraculous weight-loss aid. Roasting causes them to release chlorogenic acid, a chemical known for its health benefits such as helping burn fat and lower blood sugar. Unfortunately, however, scientific evidence does not support such claims due to limited human trials and short study durations.
GCE supplements remain widely available on the military market despite limited research, thanks to an outreach campaign led by American talk show host Dr. Oz. They’re touted as weight loss aids; however, this claim has been disproven by multiple experts and excessive consumption can cause anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and digestive distress.
Green Coffee Bean Extract has only one real benefit to offer: its ability to lower cholesterol. While evidence for this claim remains uncertain, chlorogenic acid contained within green coffee beans may help block sugar absorption in the intestine and stimulate fat burning while acting as an anti-inflammatory, potentially decreasing diabetes and heart disease risk.
Though some studies are encouraging, most have only been conducted with small groups for short durations and have only provided initial evidence. There have been some concerns raised that long-term use of green coffee bean extract may cause serious side effects including increased cholesterol and blood sugar levels, digestive difficulties, liver damage, as well as possible caffeine side effects that increase anxiety levels.
Consuming several cups of green coffee per day should be generally safe for most individuals; however, it is wise to consult your physician prior to beginning any new supplement regimens. Caffeine content can have adverse effects; knowing how much caffeine to take may prevent insomnia, nervousness and anxiety attacks, jitters, gastrointestinal discomfort and an increase in heart rate as well as difficulty falling asleep.
Green coffee can be an easy and enjoyable way to experience its healthful benefits, and making your own is a delicious way to do just that! No special equipment or ingredients are needed: just boil some water, add beans and steep them like herbal tea for optimal results. Green coffee makes an excellent energy drink to start your day or refresh yourself before exercise, and can even be personalized further by adding spice or natural additives such as turmeric or honey!
