What defines a product as halal depends on its ingredients. A halal product must not contain any prohibited elements such as alcohol or pork fat, nor any non-halal animal products.

Keep in mind, however, that companies frequently alter their ingredients, so what once may have been considered halal may become unlawful in time. Therefore, Muslims should always carefully read labels before purchasing any product.

A product which meets the criteria for being considered halal must display the appropriate symbol – typically found on the back of its packaging – as proof. In addition, this label must also list any prohibited ingredients as well as permitted ones that make up its formula.

NESTLE COFFEE CRISP is an indulgent Canadian snack made of crispy wafers topped with delicious coffee cream, covered by a thin chocolate coating. Ideal for all the family, and especially enjoyable when shared among coffee enthusiasts in your life, it features no animal byproducts and no alcohol content for an enjoyable experience! Plus it’s certified halal!

However, in some countries halal certification requirements may be stricter and require Starbucks to disclose whether any of their ingredients contain anything prohibited by Islam; such as carmine or pork fat which would render their drinks non-halal.
