Is Bang Coffee Healthy?
Bang has quickly become one of the leading energy drink brands, thanks to their abundance of caffeine. Since 2016, they have expanded into Keto Coffee as an offering to those following a keto diet, which favors healthy fats over sugars and carbohydrates. While Keto Coffee contains caffeine, its ingredients also adhere to this lifestyle by including protein powder and coconut oil for maximum ketogenic benefits.
Caffeine Informer reports that one 16-ounce can of Bang contains 300 milligrams of caffeine compared to 90-140 mg in an average cup of brewed coffee. Caffeine is a natural stimulant which when taken in moderation can boost alertness and mental clarity; however, too much caffeine can have adverse side effects including difficulty sleeping, irritability, nervousness, tremors and high blood pressure; pregnant women are advised against drinking caffeine due to potential risks it poses to unborn babies.
Bang Coffee contains not only caffeine, but also other ingredients like guarana seed extract and taurine which may assist with muscle performance. Acetyl L-carnitine, an amino acid which improves muscle carnitine levels and increases energy. Although generally considered safe, studies indicate it could heighten bipolar disorder symptoms or speed the progression of Parkinson’s disease (via Vlogmail).
Bang Coffee contains sodium in the form of artificial sweeteners acesulfame potassium and sucralose that have been linked to obesity, diabetes and hunger cravings, negating its zero-calorie benefits. While too little sodium may not cause health concerns such as high blood pressure or heart disease, too much can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease or kidney problems.
