Green Mountain Coffee Roasters stands apart from its competition by using environmental stewardship as a core value, dating back to their initial cafe in Vermont. Their business decisions continue to reflect this dedication – such as selecting only organically grown and Fair Trade certified coffees grown through sustainable methods that guarantee them fair pricing – helping reduce chemicals use while simultaneously conserving natural resources and conserving our natural ecosystems.

Green Mountain goes further than simply sourcing and producing coffee to reduce waste, by taking steps to be responsible with their energy usage and offsetting any carbon emissions by purchasing renewable energy credits. Furthermore, their awareness of disposable coffee cups’ impact led them to develop biodegradable cups which have saved over 500 thousand pounds from landfills since their launch.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters recently unveiled an organic, double Fair Trade certified coffee line designed specifically for use with Keurig hot brewing systems. Varieties available include Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Peru Cajamarca and Sumatra Aceh; this marks their inaugural collection for Keurig users. McDonald’s restaurants across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island Vermont New Hampshire Maine and Albany are currently receiving Newman’s Own Organics coffee from Green Mountain (a division of GMCR).
