How to Make Reishi Mushroom Coffee
Reishi mushroom coffee is a drink crafted by combining traditional coffee with medicinal mushrooms like reishi, chaga and cordyceps to provide energy boost, reduce stress levels and enhance mental focus. According to its proponents, Reishi mushroom coffee may offer several health advantages including improved energy, stress relief and mental clarity.
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is widely known as the “mushroom of immortality”. Additionally, Reishi has long been used in modern medicine as an effective remedy against chronic fatigue caused by infections, immune system dysfunction or hormonal imbalance.
Research has demonstrated that Reishi can aid in alleviating chronic fatigue by stimulating white blood cell activity to kill abnormal and cancerous cells, potentially treating other conditions including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriasis.
Chaga (Ganoderma spp) may share similar medicinal properties to that of reishi, though its effects may be gentler by modulating natural hormones within the body to combat inflammation, alleviate eczema and allergies symptoms and lower anxiety symptoms. Chaga is considered an adaptogen which aids the body in dealing with stress without overstimulating it or producing side effects.
Reishi is generally safe to consume; however, pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their physician prior to adding new nutritional supplements, especially if you already have existing medical conditions or take medications like blood thinners. Reishi may decrease blood pressure so people taking such drugs should refrain from consuming reishi for at least two weeks prior to surgery in order to decrease bleeding risks and ensure an uneventful process.
