How to Make Mushroom Tea With Dried Mushrooms
Mushroom tea is an easy and delicious way to introduce the health benefits of mushrooms into your diet. Enjoy tasting different varieties, such as Reishi for stress and anxiety relief, Chaga for antioxidant protection and Lion’s Mane for focus!
Mushroom teas are traditionally created by steeping dried mushrooms or a mix of whole and powdered mushrooms in hot water for several minutes until their medicinal and nutritional properties seep into the boiling liquid, creating an exquisite infusion that may help treat cancer, strengthen immunity, support digestive health and enhance mental wellbeing.[1] In addition, many adaptogenic mushrooms may provide additional support against various forms of stress.
For mushroom tea to be successful, the standard way to rehydrate them involves pouring hot (often boiling) water over them and leaving them for at least thirty minutes to rehydrate before using them. Rehydrating improperly could result in bitter or tough mushrooms – therefore proper hydration must occur prior to their usage.
Rehydrating mushrooms for use in cooking requires at least an hour of soaking time instead of only thirty. A longer soak time will help the mushrooms rehydrate more evenly, which is particularly useful when creating dishes which involve long cooking times or when eaten raw. Plus, the liquid from their soak can also be used as flavoring or even replacing some of the water content in soups and stews!
Making mushroom tea is a straightforward process that doesn’t require an elaborate kettle or pot setup. A typical starting point for making small batches of tea should include one to two teaspoons of mushroom pieces or powder, while for larger batches you may wish to double or even triple this amount of ingredients.
Psilocybin mushroom tea is perhaps the best-known form of mushroom tea, often consumed by experienced users for spiritual, emotional, and physical wellbeing. This infusion is obtained by steeping dried psilocybin mushrooms in hot water until their effects can be felt psychedelically; then drinking this drink.
While your individual experience of drinking psilocybin mushroom tea will depend on your body and dosage used, its general effects should begin within 30-40 minutes and gradually diminish over 6 hours. Although tolerance may take time to develop, its long-lasting benefits make this type of beverage an invaluable aid for dealing with stressful situations and maintaining emotional balance.
