Psilocybin mushrooms contain psychoactive compounds that can induce altered states of consciousness. A popular method for consumption is steeping them in hot water to make mushroom tea; effects typically take 20-40 minutes to kick in and can last up to six hours.

Ingredients

Assemble 3-4 cups of water into a tea kettle, and bring to a boil. Pour it into a ceramic teapot before adding finely chopped mushrooms (cut into fine pieces), ginger chai tea bags, and fresh mint leaves that you have massaged between your hands to release oils – mint has many beneficial properties including relieving cramps, diarrhea, gas pains and helping strengthen digestive health overall. Lemon contains acid that lowers the ph of water and allows mushrooms to release their goodness more effectively, increasing delivery and digestion. Let the mushrooms simmer for 15-20min in this solution before straining into cup for drinking 🙂 Effects will be noticeable much sooner than eating mushrooms alone! Additionally, this method is more effective as alkaloids dissolve easily in water than boiling/cooking them directly – however if desired you could even steep in fridge.

Steeping

Mix ground or chopped mushrooms with boiling water, reducing heat until simmering occurs. High heat can degrade psilocybin so it is important to maintain low temperatures when working with mushrooms.

Steep the mushrooms for 15-20 minutes in water at medium heat before removing from heat and straining out solids using either a coffee filter or fine mesh strainer. Gently pressing or squeezing solids after straining will increase psilocybin yield.

Pour the liquid into a cup and enjoy. Allow up to 20 hours or more for its psychoactive effects to become apparent before sipping, as they could take anywhere between 20 and 90 minutes for you. You can add extra flavor by garnishing your tea with mint leaves and lemon twists for extra taste or reduced stomach discomfort – then sit back, relax, and have fun! Psilocybin can have mild to profound effects.

Serving

Add lemon to mushroom tea for enhanced flavor, absorbic acid content, and to help the hot water leach more from the mushrooms. It is also advised that adding some mint leaves reduce stomach discomfort by increasing delivery and digestion; alternatively dried ginger, cinnamon or lemon may work just as well if fresh herbs cannot be found.

For maximum effect, add several tea bags at around 15 minutes into your mix – it will significantly boost the potency of this simple tea recipe!
