How to Make Chaga Mushroom Powder Tea at Home

Chaga has quickly become one of the newest health trends, appearing both social media feeds and natural food stores. Thanks to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting properties, chaga may help fight cancer while simultaneously improving energy levels and overall health. Unfortunately, human studies on its benefits remain scarce and should always be discussed prior to making changes or supplementation decisions involving it.
One of the easiest and tastiest ways to consume chaga is through drinking its tea from its raw, chunked or ground form. To prepare this beverage, combine 2-3 teaspoons of chaga powder per one cup (8oz) of water in a tea bag/ball steeper or Bodum style teapot; bring to boil; steep for 10-15 minutes then remove and enjoy as desired – sweeten with honey or maple syrup and milk may even make a delightful morning coffee alternative!
If you want to create large batches of chaga mushroom powder tea at home, use chunked form, as it makes breaking it down and brewing larger amounts easier. Once finished brewing the tea, strain out and place it into an airtight container for storage – this delicious drink can be enjoyed hot or iced and also makes an excellent addition to savory soups, stews or sauces!
Chaga can also be used as an effective replacement for regular tinder and wood when it comes to starting and maintaining fires in the wilderness on hikes or backwoods excursions. Because chaga smolders slowly, it serves as a suitable replacement. When used as a fire starter, it should typically be ground to either coarse or fine consistency before being added into a pile of dry tinder and struck with a steel fire striker to ignite and maintain flame.
Those harvesting their chaga outdoors should wash it with cool, fresh water before leaving it in a dark and cool location to dry until the fungus becomes dry and brittle. When finished, break into fist-sized chunks before processing in a grinder or mortar and pestle until coarse or fine ground form; store in airtight containers.
