How to Make a Healthy Coffee Smoothie
If you love coffee, this nutritious coffee smoothie makes an ideal breakfast! Packed with chocolate-y hints, rich dark coffee, and creamy Greek yogurt – this treat tastes just like those expensive coffee shop drinks but with far fewer health risks and costs incurred during their creation! Plus it can be done in only five minutes!
This smoothie is sweetened by using banana, which keeps it thick and creamy. Honey, maple syrup or even stevia could also add some additional sweetness if desired. I used dairy-free plant-based milk but any kind will work; Greek yogurt could even be swapped out for dairy-free alternatives or fiber added by adding rolled oats if desired! For an even richer and chocolatey experience increase cocoa powder accordingly!
I created this delicious smoothie using a blend of ground coffee and chilled brewed coffee brewed with cold water for optimal flavor and balance. Personally, the latter gives more of a true coffee taste; either will work great. For an easier option with pre-chilled beverages try cold brew coffee or store-bought iced coffee mix!
Start by mixing up some sort of liquid. I prefer almond milk here but any plant-based milk such as coconut, oat or cow’s will do just as well. Add in some ice cubes for an icy effect!
If you prefer a smoother, thinner smoothie, try substituting frozen fruit for the ice cubes or leaving them out completely. Alternatively, you could make this drink ahead of time by placing coffee, milk and some ice cubes into a freezer bag, pressing out air prior to sealing before placing in the fridge overnight before adding everything else in. It makes an easy prep ahead idea for busy mornings! This easy 5-minute Healthy Coffee Smoothie is an awesome way to boost energy and start off your day right!
