With rich milky essence and orchid essence, its alluring fragrance is sweet yet mellow, while the delicious smooth taste of tightly rolled leaves refreshes and rejuvenates.

Taiping Hou Kui tea (simplified Chinese:; pinyin:taipinghoukui), commonly referred to as Monkey King tea, is produced at Huangshan Mountain’s base in Taiping County of Anhui Province and boasts a long and storied history with an extraordinary blend that’s crisp yet sweet with flavors like fresh green apples.

At first, some farmers used to select and sell off individual large, strong leaves from each batch of finished tea separately for more money, though this method did not produce superior quality or could even harm plants. Therefore, Wang Kui-Cheng began producing this tea using only small fresh young leaves with one bud and two leaves on them instead – quickly becoming popular.

After their initial heating, tea leaves are transferred to an air oven for further drying at 80@C for approximately 30 minutes – during this process their moisture content decreases by approximately 15%.

Once again,the tea leaves are transferred into a pan for their third heating (Wen Huo, or Smoldering Fire). Here,the heat intensity increases even further; and leaves are stirred and quivered for three to four minutes at a time before being placed back into the pan and quiverd again before returning back into it and repeating this process two to three more times until dark green leaves with crisp edges have emerged.

As soon as your tea leaves have reached this state, remove from the pan and place on a bamboo plate to cool and absorb moisture for about one hour before packaging up for sale.
